SimNet TSGas is a software package for simulating gas networks in transient states. It can simulate high-pressure gas network (transmission) of any configuration.
Depending on the selected mathematical model describing the transient gas flow, the packages for the dynamic simulation of gas networks are divided into two groups. The first relates to cases where the transient gas flow is described by a system of partial differential equations of hyperbolic type (for rapid changes in the operating parameters of the pipeline), the second group includes programs in which the gas flow is described by a system of partial differential equations of parabolic type (slower change of gas properties in the pipeline). Models of non-isothermal (hyperbolic type), in contrast, to the isothermal allow to include the gas temperature changes in the network.
Computational properties
The simulated network may have any number of sources with a predetermined value of pressure changes or capacity in a specified period of time, and any number of other non-pipe elements: compressor stations (compressors), pressure regulator stations (city gate stations) and valves. These elements may work with a given time evolution of the value of one of the following parameters: the inlet pressure, the outlet pressure, the compression ratio (reduction ratio), pressure drop (pressure increase), flow rate. In addition, the network may be equipped with any number of valves, operating in the open/ closed states.
The results of the simulation are: changes of gas pressure and temperature in the nodes as a function of the time and changes in flow rate, power loss, the average value of gas velocity in pipes, the missing values of the parameters describing the non-linear elements over time, a change of gas accumulation in the network as a function of time.
